5. Preparation of illustrations

The editors accept articles with illustrations prepared using computer technology.

The illustrations given in the article should be simple, informative and carefully edited, with a minimum number of symbols, with the absence of technical symbols and elements unnecessary for understanding the meaning of the figure. The designations in the figure must be clearly drawn in a graphical editor. The presence of each illustration must be justified; an artificial increase in illustrative material to increase the volume of the article is unacceptable. The inscriptions on the figures must be Russified. The caption to the illustration is drawn up in such a way that its meaning is self-sufficient and clear without referring to the text of the article.

The size of the illustration should correspond to its size in the finished journal article - approximately 8 × 8.5 cm (for one column) or 17–17.5 cm (for two columns).

Illustrations are placed in the manuscript strictly according to the text. In the text, when referring to a figure, it is written, for example, fig. 1, also (Fig. 1) captions are indicated. In the presence of subfigures, for example. a), b), etc., alphabetic characters are indicated in the figure.

The original illustrations are prepared additionally, in the form of separate jpg or tiff graphic files, and are attached to the text of the article in archived form. Line drawings are converted into black-and-white images of at least 300 dpi, tone drawings (micrographs) - in grayscale at least 600 dpi.

  1. Duplication of illustration data in text or tables.
  2. Bringing previously published or known and publicly available illustrations of a reference nature - diagrams, nomograms, spectra, etc.
  3. The use of low-resolution raw screen shots with fragments of software service information as an illustrative material.
  4. By means of a text editor, refine the illustration embedded in the text (for example, use multiple spaces, tabs or embedded pseudographics to position the symbols of axes or curves).

If you need to bring a drawing (illustration, photograph) previously published in another publication, you must obtain permission from the publisher and (or) the author to republish the drawing. Permission can be obtained in a simple written form (including by e-mail).

The scale of the figure is selected in such a way that the obtained dependencies are clear and obvious. The serifs on the axes unfold "inside" the picture. The curves are arranged so that they occupy the entire field of the illustration. If necessary, experimental points can be placed on the curves; it is permissible to indicate the error of the experimentally obtained values. Parts of the illustration that are not informative or not related to the discussion can be cut out, while indicating the break points of the curves and axes. The dimension and interpretation of the designations plotted along the axes of quantities are taken out in the figure caption. Axes and curves are drawn with thin but clearly visible lines. In cases of emergency, a scale grid can be shown on line drawings; the use of background fill is unacceptable.

Curves of the same type are given on the same scale in one figure. The curves are numbered in italic Arabic or Roman numerals. If it is necessary to present a significant number of curves (obtained in different systems or conditions), it is permissible to divide the illustration into parts a, b, c ...

Tone illustrations are given in the article subject to their absolute necessity. Microphotographs used should be informative, contrasting, with a high depth of field. For a clear interpretation of the microphotograph, a scale bar must be given in the illustration, and the magnification is indicated in the caption. Any markings on micrographs should be avoided. The service information of the device on which the micrograph was obtained is not given.

6. Preparation of electronic text

  1. The text is typed in Microsoft Word, the font is Times New Roman, the size is 11 pt, the line spacing is 1.5-2, the margins are normal, no hyphenation is used in the text. All pages of the manuscript are numbered consecutively.
  2. Do not type Cyrillic in Latin letters similar in style and vice versa.
  3. Decimal digits are typed only through a point, not through a comma (0.25 instead of 0.25).
  4. Mixed use of Russian and Latin indices should be avoided. Indexes are subject to decoding in the text.
  5. Dates of the form “date.month.year” are formatted as follows: 02.05.2018.
  6. Symbols for variable physico-chemical quantities such as temperature T, pressure R, entropy S, heat of reaction H and Q, volume V, reaction constants k and K and others are in italics. Subscripts are given directly.
  7. The designations of Greek letters are always given only directly, without italics.
  8. The hyphen is used only in compound words (for example, physical and chemical experiments), prefixes to the main word (for example, n-octane), double surnames (Sokolov-Mikitov) and where it is required by grammar rules (something, according to still).
  9. In the case of the designation of laws and rules derived by two scientists (for example, the Boyle-Mariotte law), as well as when the words “is” or “are” are omitted (for example, “the purpose of the work is to study ...”), a dash is put.
  10. The letter "ё" is replaced by "e" everywhere, except for surnames and special cases.
  11. Whenever possible, the use of abbreviations should be avoided, with the exception of those adopted by the GOST and IUPAC standards. All introduced abbreviations require mandatory decoding at the first use (except for those accepted by the GOST, IUPAC standards). Abbreviations should not be used in article titles, abstracts, keywords, figure and table captions, and conclusions.
  12. Chemical formulas of inorganic compounds are preferably typed in symbols. The names of chemical compounds should be given according to the nomenclature recommended by IUPAC ("IUPAC Nomenclature Rules for Chemistry", 1979). To designate some chemical compounds, terms, substituents in the text (but not in the title of the article and abstract), you can use generally accepted abbreviations, for example, alkyl (Alk), aryl (Ar), halogen (Hal), methyl (Me), ethyl (Et ), propyl (Pr), isopropyl ( i-Pr), butyl (Bu), tert-butyl ( t-Bu); (italics i, tert, t) amino acids - glycine (Gly), alanine (Ala), valine (Val), etc. When designating some solvents in the text, you can also use established abbreviations, for example, DMSO - dimethyl sulfoxide, THF - tetrahydrofuran, DMF - dimethylformamide, TMS - trimethylsilane etc.
  1. Tables and their captions are arranged according to the text.
  2. Tables are numbered in Arabic numerals in the order they are mentioned in the text (Table 1). In the overtable inscription, the number should be followed by the name of the table, typed in 1 interval.
  3. If there is only one table in the text, then the words "Table 1." are not written. In the text, at the place of reference to the table, it is necessary to write “see. table".
  4. All columns in tables should have headings and be separated by vertical lines.
  5. Abbreviations of words in tables are not allowed.
  6. Create tables using the capabilities of MS Word or MS Excel. Tables typed manually with spaces or tabs cannot be used.
  1. Formulas, structural chemical formulas and schemes are located in their place in the text of the article.
  2. The characters *, ', ±, single letters of the Greek alphabet, single italic or bold letters, single variables or symbols that have only a superscript or only a subscript, units of measure, numbers in text, and simple mathematical or chemical formulas (e.g. , a 2 + b 2 = c 2 , H 2 SO 4) must be typed in text mode without using embedded frames. Type the rest of the formulas using the formula editor (Equation, MathType).
  3. Remote mathematical formulas (drawn in a separate line) should be typed in the frame of the formula editor as a whole. A set of formulas from composite elements, where part of the formula is a table, part is text, part is an embedded frame, is not allowed.
  4. Mathematical symbols are given in set and in italics without spaces between symbols. The text of chemical reactions also goes without spaces, but in direct letters, for example. H 2 SO 4 + NaOH \u003d Na 2 SO 4 + H 2 O. Chemical formulas are always written only directly.
  5. For a set of chemical structures, reaction schemes, fragmentation mechanisms, etc., you can use any specialized program, for example, ChemWindow, HyperChem, ChemDraw, ChemOffice, ISIS Draw.

Dimensions

  1. The dimensions of all physical quantities should be given only in the international SI system.
  2. The dimensions are separated from the figure by a space (77 K, 10.34(2) A, 58 J mol–1, 50 m s–2), except for degrees, percent, ppm: 90°, 20°C, 50%, 10‰.
  3. An indication of the type of percentage (molar, mass, volume) is not separated from the percent sign by a space; a space is placed between the value and the dimension (5 wt%, 10 vol%, 15 mol%).
  4. A dot is not put after the dimensions (s - second, g - gram, kg - kilogram, day - day, deg - degree, m - meter, nm - nanometer, million - million, billion - billion).
  5. Complex dimensions are written as a power expression: (gm cm -2, J mol -1 K -1).
  6. When listing, as well as in numerical intervals, the dimension is given only for the last number (18–20 gm cm–2), with the exception of angular degrees.
  7. Degrees Celsius: 5°C, not 5°. Angular degrees drop: 5–10°.
  8. The dimensions of variables are written separated by commas ( E, J mol –1), sublogarithmic values - in square brackets, without a comma: ln t[min].

Dots and spaces

        • A period is not put after: UDC, article title, list of authors, list of addresses, headings and subheadings, table names, dimensions (s - second, g - gram, m - meter, km - kilometer, nm - nanometer, min - minute, day - day, hail - degree) (see above).
        • The point is placed after: annotations, footnotes (including in tables), notes to the table, captions to figures, abbreviations (month - month, year - year, m.p. - melting point).
        • The period after abbreviations is not put in simple subscripts ( T pl - melting point), but is placed in the middle in complex (for example, T f. n is the phase transition temperature).
        • References to figures and tables are typed with spaces (Fig. 1, Table 2).
        • Quotes and brackets are not separated by spaces from the words enclosed in them: (at 300 K), ( a).
        • A space is placed between the sign of the number or paragraph and the number (No. 1; § 5.65).
        • Numbers with letters in the symbols are typed without spaces (IVd; 1.3.14a).
        • In geographic coordinates, latitudes are separated by spaces: 56.5° N; 85.0° E.
        • In geographic names, a space is placed after the dot: p. Yenisei, Novosibirsk.
        • There is always a space between the initials and the surname: A. A. Ivanov.
      • Abbreviations of several words are separated by spaces (760 mm Hg; m.p.; sp. gr.).

Abstract—The features of ethylene polymerization were studied using a new group of catalytic systems based on ten methylalumoxane-activated, hydroxyallyl-functionalized phenoxyimine titanium halide complexes with tert-butyl substituents in the phenoxy group. It has been shown that the position of the hydroxyallyl functional group and the number and position of substituents in the phenoxy group of the complex significantly affect the catalytic activity of the new group of activated complexes. These factors determine the ratio of homogeneous and heterogeneous stages of polymerization as a result of the self-immobilization of the catalyst on the resulting polymer, as well as the molecular characteristics of the resulting polymer at 20, 40, and 60°C and an ethylene pressure of 0.4 MPa. The possibility and conditions for obtaining ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene with improved morphology are revealed.

Logical structure of the article

The presentation of the material should begin with the formulation of the problem, in the context of which it is necessary to mention the results obtained earlier. The objectives of the work should be formulated very clearly. To describe the entire preparative and instrumental part of the work, the experimental part is used, which is separated into a separate logical block. The description of the experiments is given in such detail as to make it possible to reproduce them. It is necessary to indicate the sources and purity of the compounds used, the brands of the equipment involved and the conditions for conducting the experiments. Experimental data must be systematized in the form of tables and figures. Duplication of material in tables, figures and text is unacceptable. Experimental data and calculations that are not directly related to the problems of the work should not be given. All data are given only to the extent that is necessary when discussing the results to solve the problems posed in the article. The conclusions are the end of the article. In the form of abstracts, they present the theoretical and experimental results of the work. Conclusions should not repeat the abstract. Acknowledgments are placed after conclusions. The article ends with a list of references, which lists the original works cited in the text.

Making a list of references

Literary references in the text are given in square brackets and numbered in the order they are mentioned. In the list of cited literature, one reference should correspond to one source. All links must be only for printed editions excluding links to electronic journals.

It is strictly inadmissible to quote textbooks, guidelines, collections of abstracts of conference reports, works of higher educational institutions, abstracts of dissertations and similar sources that are hard to reach for foreign readers.

If it is impossible to replace a source that is hard to reach for a foreign audience, it is necessary to reformulate the text of the article in such a way as to avoid citation.

In references to articles from journals, the name of the journal, year, volume, number, page spacing are indicated, in some cases the name of the series is given. The title of the articles is not given. When referring to publications in translated domestic journals, a link to the English version of the journal is given in brackets. This requirement is due to the fact that when calculating the impact factors of Russian journals, only references to the corresponding English version are taken into account.

Kabalka G.W., Venkataiah B., Dong G. // J. Org. Chem. 2004. V. 69. N 17. P. 5807-5809.

When making a link to a book, indicate the authors, title, city, publisher, year of publication, and the total number of pages. For translated editions, a bibliographic description in the original language is given in brackets. In the absence of an author, an editor (or a translation editor in the case of a translated edition) must be indicated.

Preparation of illustrations

The editors accept articles with illustrations prepared using computer technology, which, given the prevalence and availability of the relevant software, should not cause difficulties for authors.

The illustrations given in the article should be simple, informative and carefully edited, with a minimum of notation. The presence of each illustration must be justified; an artificial increase in illustrative material to increase the volume of the article is unacceptable. The caption to the illustration is drawn up in such a way that its meaning is clear without referring to the text of the article.

The size of the illustration should correspond to its size in the finished journal article - approximately 8x8 cm. The illustrations should not be made too small or excessively large. Illustrations must be placed in the text file of the article; duplication of illustrative material in the form of separate jpg or tiff graphic files is acceptable. At the same time, line drawings are converted into black-and-white images of at least 300 dpi, tone drawings (micrographs) - in grayscale at least 600 dpi.

Color images are not accepted by the editors.

If it is necessary to present a significant number of curves (obtained in different systems or conditions), it is permissible to divide the illustration into parts a, b, in … (example).

The service information of the device on which the micrograph was taken is not given ( example).

  1. Duplication of illustration data in text or tables.
  2. Bringing previously published or known and publicly available reference illustrations - diagrams, nomograms, spectra, etc.
  3. The use of low-resolution raw screen shots with fragments of software service information as an illustrative material.
  4. By means of a text editor, refine the illustration embedded in the text (for example, use multiple spaces, tabs or embedded pseudographics to position the symbols of axes or curves).

Electronic text preparation

The text is typed in Microsoft Word, the font is Times New Roman, the size is 12 pt, the color is black, the line spacing is 1.5-2, the margins are normal, no hyphenation is used in the text. All pages of the manuscript are numbered consecutively.

The compiled article file includes the text itself, a list of references, conclusions, tables, figures and captions to them, and an abstract of the article.

Duplication of graphic material in the form of separate files (tiff or jpg) is allowed. In this case, line drawings are made in black and white, tone (microphotographs) in shades of gray. Resolution of drawings is not less than 300 dpi.

Specialized programs are used to set chemical and mathematical formulas.

When submitting an article by regular mail, the files are recorded on CD or DVD.

Are you all so nervous in Kyiv, ABWER?
I read the rules. They have changed a little in recent years. I will be more careful.

Thanks for understanding! And you can find out on what resource ZHPH has been laid out since 2001?

Many thanks to Mercaptan.

Exactly! There are articles from 2001

“The supervisor pulled my soul out of me -”
And we have the opposite: articles are required from the leaders.

SW. Perovskite! If you sent an article, for example, to Izv. AN., You would know what modern technology is! There with DVD and so on. everything is in order, but for * but with questions, notes, corrections, etc. You answer, correct - and they ask the same thing in the next letter. These are the academics.
(I hope I didn't offend anyone)
